Point Lobos

I stood on Point Lobos one winter day,
Where the sandals of angels trod.
It seemed that this visage near Monterey,
Was the fatherly face of God.

I walked by the beach where the sea gulls soar,
And I paused on the sifting sand.
The tongues of the deep lapped the sandy shore
While I kneeled, and impressed my hand.

I rose in respect for the wondrous sight,
That the seraphs of God acclaim,
And climbed to the crest of its topmost height
Where I shouted, aloud, my name.

The pulsating sea swept away the dent
Of my band where the sands were rife.
My name was inscribed in God's firmament,
On a leaf of His "Book of Life".
