Voices Of Nature

One early morn, before my kinsmen stirred,
I wakened to the warbling of a bird.
Such sounds of nature everywhere abound
In trees whose roots are anchored to the ground.

It called to mind the offering of Cain
Whose gifts were disregarded as profane.
No dulcet twitter ascertained above
Could justify its inner lack of love.

One day a Bach chorale embraced my ear
With those euphonic sounds I love to hear.
In flawless tones their testimonies rise
As sinless souls transported to the skies.

The hymn became a symphony of praise
That magnified God's mercy, love and grace.
Like Abel's sacrifices to the Lord,
It won His highest homage and award.
