O what infinite compassion
Do the words of God convey.
Through the Spirit they refashion
Lives whose souls have gone astray.
Words that comfort us in sorrow,
    Bring us solace in despair.
From the Bible we may borrow
Words for every need and care.

There are moments of temptation
    Cozened by external charm
That would lead to degradation,
    And our soul's immortal harm.
Though the devil would divide us
    By delusion and deceit,
Jesus' word shall stand beside us
    Lest we perish in defeat.

On the path of our sojourning
We, at times, may hear His voice.
Oft' the road is filled with turning
Yet our hearts and souls rejoice.
Fellowship has drawn us nearer
That we may behold His face,
Still His words grow daily dearer
As we draw upon His grace.
