The Miracle Of Faith
Far off on the shores by that sea of old
Where the prophet outstretched his hand,
There Israel fled, as the ancients told,
To a wasted and barren land.
She came to the fringes of Jordan's stream,
And beheld on that foreign shore
The promised fulfillment of Abram's dream
In a vision at Canaan's door.
She founded her kingdoms on Canaan's sod
By the acts of transcendent grace,
And measured her strength by her faith in God
That rebellion could not replace.
Out there on the banks of eternity,
To which Gentile and Jew aspire,
There lingers that sacred affinity
That the marvels of faith inspire. |
